So I was asked the other day what inspires me to make what I make.
I think that is kinda hard to pin-point. I am obsessed with cloth diapers... have been since day one.
When we were in college, (you know those days? ) money was pretty tight. We had two little ones in diapers and we were spending a huge chunk of our grocery $$ on them. I really don't know where the idea came from ...
...actually now that I think of it, I didn't go looking for them. I just stumbled onto them. I was looking for a good nursing bra, the store that I went to had a pattern for cloth diapers. It was just a little shop in a small town. The gal had all the diaper flannel and everything. I was there with my mom, and she said if I wanted to give it a try she would fund the project. We walked out of the store with flannel and velcro and the pattern. A stop off at Wal-mart and we had plastic pants too (can't believe I used those nasty things). A few hrs sewing and I had some fitteds to use they were just a basic side snapping fitted in flannel. I sewed a soaker down the middle and there they were.
They saved us alot of $$ right off. YEAH!! I will continue this another day! Just wanted to share where I began.

thanks for sharing...it's neat oh we stumble upon using/making things
I can't wait to read the rest
I think it is really cool that you STARTED cloth diapering by making your own! I think most of us don't find that route until much later, although it is so much fun!
I started cloth diapering with Gerber prefolds, pins, and plastic pants. My mom taught me how; that's what she used for us girls when we were little! I think I started cloth diapering just to be different, and to save money! I would never go back to those poor quality prefolds and yucky plastic pants now that I have been enlightened in the world of pockets, fitteds, and wool covers. But it still holds a sentimnetal place in my heart!!! Thanks, Vilate, for all you do on the Cloth Diapered Munchkins community on Facebook's Circle of Moms ... you are such an encouragement!
It's inspiring how you got started in making your own cloth diapers..I love how the universe just brought you and the cloth diaper together like that!!! Things truly do happen for a reason!
I don't know how to sew (except for hand sew) but my hubby sews all of our costumes when we perform (my hubby and I are fire performers - www.volcanoflux.com) well I'm on hiatus for the time being coz I just love being home with my lil man...anywho, like I was saying my hubby makes all of our costumes and is an amazing costumer designer...
I get inspired by moms like you who thrive on being eco-friendly (like myself)!! :o) Yayy to you and yayy to Etsy!
